UNISSAMOG Chronicles Issue #2

3-29-02

Well after sitting for a week and a half in my garage, I decided to do some work on the mog.

I cleaned the frame rails of all the battery boxes, and the supports for the gas tanks.  The battery boxes will end up in the bed as storage, and the support brackets may be used during the buildup.

Here are a few more current pics, since Chris and I pulled the mog engine, and swapped to my tires and rims.

I now have these NATO tread Michelins.  They are worn, but still useable.  On the sidewall they say "re-groovable", so I might get a hot knife and give it a try!

And here are the RED RIMS, I will leave them for now, and see how weird they look when I finish the truck.

The area where the engine was now sits empty, until I get off my arse and rip up the Nissan

Here is a pair of the tranny area.  The 1st shows the myriad of levers to control the truck.
At the moment there are 4 levers. (more to come....separate front and rear diff locks with a re-routed front actuator)
Shifter (for the 8-speed tranny)
Direction (fwd, rev, and neutral)
4wd (2wd, 4wd, and 4wd with diff lock)
E-brake (you SHOULD know what that does!)

The 2nd shot is a look in through the acess panel into the tranny......everything looks pretty good in here!

Here is a shot of the rear springs.  You can see the overload coil inside the main one, it is that rusty thing.  I am going to remove this to allow for an easier time flexing.

And in the end....we have the rear pintle hitch......for some reason I don't think I will be needing any rear tow hooks!
